winthrop high school football team. thanks for being here with us, we're told one player is facing suspension. school officials are expected to explain what happened, hi, jim. >> reporter: the official word we're getting at least so far is that an undisclosed incident at the high school is under investigation by winthrop police. we further confirmed that incident does involve the high school football team. i spoke off camera with the police chief here in winthrop. he tells me that this investigation on the part of the school and now on the part of the police, concerns a photo that was perhaps taken by a student of perhaps another student in the shower at some point. and that is the focus of the investigation which is focusing on anywhere from 1 to up to 10 students. we also further understand that the football player is being disciplined and will be suspended that's on the front

of the school situation but also we should tell you that a police investigation is underway as well. we should find out a lot more at 1:00 this afternoon when the police chief here in winthrop will hold a news conference along with the school supperrer and get a few more details a police investigation underway focused on winthrop high school, possibly involving a photo or photos taken of somebody in a shower. live, jim smith, wbz news back to you. also breaking this noon, a water main break is diverting traffic in downtown manchester. sky eye over the scene on brown avenue take a good look. a big sink hole opened up the water bubbling up right under the road as you can imagine. there are a lot of detours in the area going on repair work is expected, taking place, i should say expected to take at least 24 hours. bad situation. today the trial for the teen

teacher, he was just 14 when he killed his math teacher. today was the first day of jury selection, nicole jacobs is live with a closer look at the case. one of the most poignantmoments when the judge asked the prosecution and defense attorney to introduce her client, phillip, he stood and she asked him to turn around and face those potential jurors face to face, of course that is is something he did as well. in the beginning of the process, prior to the pull of jurors coming in, chism's mother sat extremely emotional. colleen's parents, she is the

who was raped, murdered and robbed allegedly chism. her ninth grade math students, there were also legal motions that needed to be discussed prior to the potential jurors coming in one gave us an opportunity for the first time to hear the defense mention an insanity defense, wanted to make sure the jury knew exactly what it meant if he were found not guilty by reason of insanity. they entered the judge of her defense. the defense would like to file a motion to prohibit chism from being photographed during the entire course of this trial, fighting that he is a minor. i should also say roughly 110 potential jurors will speak with that judge individually they will also fill out a questionnaire at that point

whether or not they know any of the perspective witnesses we learned that 60 high school students staff and faculty might testify, of course colleen's family. also some that are from tennessee where chism lives prior to moving to massachusetts. this trial could go through the first couple of weeks of november, but definitely wrapping before thanksgiving. nicole jacobs, wbz news. thank you for the update. what was supposed to be a fun day for a toddler, turned tragic when the little boy died of ecoli poisening, the boy had severe diarrhea shortly after visiting a petting zoo at the oxford county fair in maine.
